How Brand Design Relates to Your Brand Story

Utilising an effective brand story can be an invaluable marketing tool and useful for creating a Brand design. This way, not only are you providing value in the form of goods and services but you’re connecting with your audience. It can also provide entertainment to your your customers. You must ask yourself – why does your brand exist?

There’s nothing like packing an emotional punch with your Branding. One great example of this, as seen on Dragon’s Den, is post-surgery luxury lingerie brand LoveRose.

Founder Caroline Kennedy Alexander spotted a gap in the market for luxury lingerie. This was while she was recovering from a double mastectomy and reconstruction. The business is named in memory of her sister, Rose, who died from cancer.

Alexander added: “Creating the brand has been such a personal journey for me. Beacuse I have fought off breast cancer twice myself, and have supported three of my sisters during their own battles with the disease.

“Post-surgery, I wanted to return to normal life, but I was totally underwhelmed by the lack of comfortable and attractive lingerie available to support the changes in women’s bodies, such as scarring, swelling and cording, and the need for extra support.

“We’ve not only built a brand, but also a community of like-minded women who want to support each other through their breast cancer journey.”

LoveRose’s brand’s story dictates their brand identity and can be seen on the company’s website here –
www.loveroselingerie.com.

The choice of a soft, caring colour palette combines with the brand’s use of feminine fonts. This brilliantly emphasises the brand’s entrenched core values stemming from the founder’s own personal experience.

Another Brand story

Sticking with the Dragon’s Den theme, a more light-hearted example from the television series of a brand story being embedded within the creation of its brand design strategy would be Levi Root’s Reggae Reggae sauce.

‘The Reggae Reggae Sauce story began in Jamaica in the early 70’s. Levi’s Grandmother, Miriam Small taught him the magic of cooking. When Reggae music artist Levi moved to England to join his family he yearned for the music and sunshine of Jamaica. Cooking helped restore the Caribbean flavour that was missing from his life!’

Levi Root’s story is so important to the brand that it is featured graphically on the company’s website
here – leviroots.com/about.

His background as a Jamaican Reggae artist has been utilised in the company’s brand design in the form of the Jamaican Flag colours. It also includes symbols of guitars and images of Levi on their products such as table sauces and drinks.
