We often get asked ‘what is the standard size of a brochure?’
The answer is there is not one standard size of brochure, but there are some common sizes.
In the UK a brochure page size tends to be A4 or A5.
A4 size is 297mm x 210mm or 8.3 × 11.7 inches and A5 size is 148mm x 105mm or 5.8 × 8.3 inches.
So why are these 2 finished size of a brochure so popular?
One reason is the posting of them. In the UK we have standard C4 envelopes which are 229mm x 324mm or 9 inches x 12.8 inches in size and C5 envelopes which are 162mm x 229mm or 6.4 inches x 9 inches in size, both are made to hold A4 or A5 documents.
Another reason is how brochures are printed. The printing presses and the sheet size of paper also dictates the sizes of brochure.
But the biggest reason that brochures are a certain size, is the impact they make. To explain this, think about a luxury product. A luxury product needs a suitable page size to present the product correctly.
Having a very small size brochure would not have the same effect as a larger size brochure.
At the moment when we say brochure page size we are referring to the actual page size. But when someone asks what is the standard size of a brochure, they also mean the number of pages.
So we really cannot answer the question with a firm answer. However as graphic designers and printers, the most common size brochure that we produce is what we call a ‘4 page A4’.
A 4 page A4 brochure is simply an A3 sheet of paper or card folded in half. This size is popular because it can be printed on most print presses making it great value for money.
The size of A4 brochures will then go up in sets of 4 pages, which again are an A3 sheet folded.
So the next size up of an A4 brochure would be a 12 page A4 brochure, then a 16 page brochure and so on.
Other popular brochure sizes

- A3 Folded – 4 Page A4 Brochures
- A4 Gatefold – 6 page A4 Brochures
- A4 Folded – 4 Page A5 Brochures
- A4 Trifold – 6 Page DL Brochures
The final number of pages that a brochure has is always based on the amount of content to start with. Then depending on the brochure design and style of the brochure the number of pages are worked out as the brochure is designed. Page layout styles can also effect the number of pages a brochure has along with the chosen font sizes.
