How to Design a Logo

Core Design Coventry31 March 2022Branding & Logos

Our graphic design services has included the design of Frametigo Logo

If you are intending on designing a new logo then you’re probably considering one of two options. However there are many logo design options available.

  1. Designing it yourself, either using a complex graphics editor such as Adobe Photoshop or via the use of a template based graphics design platform such as Canva.
  2. Incorporating the use of a professional branding agency such as ourselves.

If you don’t already possess the skills in order to navigate a professional graphics editor then this will often prove to be a time consuming and frustratingly lengthy process. By using a professional branding agency such as Core Design Communications, you’d have our 20 years of experience, skills and knowledge at your disposal in order to create your perfect logo.

Free online platforms such as Canva, with their templates available to anyone in the planet, will leave you with a generic, unexceptional logo. You should avoid this if you want to stand out in a competitive marketplace. You will have missed the whole point of designing a logo, which is to make you stand out from competitors.

Why is a Logo so Important?

We’ve all heard the term ‘first impressions count’. Your logo is the first impression that most potential customers will receive of your business. This is what makes it so important. If your logo makes a connection with potential clients then it will make them more inclined to continue to enquire about your business. On the other hand if it makes the wrong impression then they may well click off your website, scroll past your social media posts or throw away your leaflets. It can make the difference between a sale or no sale.

Making those good first impressions help form long lasting opinions. The same principles apply to investing in and producing a logo as they do to looking presentable for a job interview, or taking a new date to a nice restaurant or not drinking too much at your first Christmas dinner at the in-law’s house. Your success in life can very much depend on those initial impressions and this is no different to the success of your business.

A good logo, much like your job interview attire, should be distinctive and eye-catching. Take Apple’s iconic apple logo for example. It should be as memorable as your first date. Nike’s classic Swoosh logo is a great example of this. It should also be as appropriate and simple as your Christmas at the in-laws – think of the DHL’s logo for example.

Why is it Important to use a Professional Branding Agency?

Our graphic designers believe it takes a mix of design skills, creative thought and skilful application to create a logo design that is truly unique, appealing and memorable, the elements that are required for a successful Logo. We, at Core Design Communications, have had a lot of practice and experience acquired from working with many brands over the years.

Creating a new logo design is the start of creating a Brand design. Designing a logo from scratch means considering how to perfectly capture and communicate the brand’s character.

When this is successfully done the logo becomes a priceless asset of the business. It needs to convey the essence of your brand and serve as the visual figurehead of your business. Most businesses have a lot of competitors, a logo is one way to make them stand out from these.

The Logo design is the start of the Brand design and so it needs to be right, it is not all of the Brand design but it’s at the heart of it. Just think of the amount of communications that a company logo will go on and it will make you think how important it is.
